Sarnia CHD/CWD Piping Replacement

Plains Midstream

Sarnia, ON

Project Overview

Installed approximately 11,500 ft of replacement underground drain piping in a live plant, all new piping was shop fabricated. This included 4″ headers for draining water and hydrocarbons, header piping installed within the existing pipe rack with all piping sloped to the end points. No new piles could be added so new structural supports were bolted to existing structures to support the headers. Approximately 90 drain branches from the header were installed to connect approx. 120 pieces of equipment. All Branches were 2”, and had flanges included for fabrication and ease of replacement if corrosion occurred again. Water branches were internally coated to mitigate future corrosion. 3D scans and LFM modeling software was used to ensure precise fitting within the existing facility that was originally constructed in 1960.
